The E-Word And Religious Rape Of Language

A very interesting research paper, which describes the relationship between the mentioning of the "evil" word evolution and possible correlation to public perception and understanding of the concept evolution, has been published on PLoS Biology - Evolution by Any Other Name: Antibiotic Resistance and Avoidance of the E-Word. Reminiscent of the current US administration doctoring scientific reports on climate change, it seems as if science is being undermined by politics. Both the religious and special interest kind.

Then again, what can we expect from a supposedly "secular" nation, that writes on all its money and has as its national motto "In God We Trust"? The founding fathers would be appalled! I just hate to see this form of Christian fundamentalism spreading around the western world, but it is unfortunately. It's just very rare to see the real life political effects being researched, as in the article mentioned. We need more of this, and more of it being reported in mainstream media. One can [has to] dream...
