Having been "forced" to use the computers made available in my local library, I can't tell you how much I'm longing to get back online using my own computer.

For one there are the discrepancies with settings of each computer. One should expect security settings, but why they disable even such trivial functions as copy, paste, and text size, is just beyond my comprehension. The truly sad fact is just, that these settings seem to vary with every computer. On one I had the great "privilege" of even being able to change the IE settings, which was great, as I had been able to erase the history and cookies set during my visit. Though on others you have nearly every function of the broser disabled, only being able to click on links. The right click menu seems to be disabled on every computer. I guess because JS can change the menu, so yeah, there I can perceive the security issue. But is there anyone out there that can explain, why there should be a need to disable viewing the source of a document?

Then there there are the monitor settings. While I'm sitting in front of a monitor which has should have resolution greater than (800x600) px, this is the default setting. Can you imagine locking at a site with such a resolution? It's painful, but is a nice reminder why one needs to keep ones stylesheets clean and functional. Also provided me with a nice insight in how bad the default theme of Drupal works in IE.

Having to use IE has been the worst of it all. What a piece of crap, and how devastating to the internet experience. Then there's me thinking "oh, you're so smart, just get Firefox for the USB", only to experience the brilliance of MCI Firewall used by the library. I've complained last week and was told "I will forward this to the IT department", but I doubt there will ever be any change.

And forget telling me "use proxies", unless you know of one that isn't being blocked by MCI....arrrrrr, so much for free speech.
